If you are interested in photography, this is the place you absolutely have to visit. If you share their passion for vintage photography of the first half of the 20th century, you will find it all the more exciting. But that is not all they have to offer.
Edwynn Houk Gallery is a commercial art gallery founded by a gallerist splitting his time between Zurich and Manhattan. Even since its opening in 1980 the gallery has been showing a marked interest in vintage photographs, mostly focusing on all those made in the twenties and the thirties of the 20th century. But their exhibitions include various periods.
Edwynn Houk Gallery has acted as an agent for a number of artists: the first one was Sally Mann in 1989, followed by Lalla Essaydi, Robert Polidori, Annie Leibovitz. The gallery has also represented the Estates of Brassai, Dorothea Lange, Bill Brandt.
The New York venue opened in 1991: since that time it has been actively organizing exhibitions of upcoming and established artists, offering representation to the artists and guidance to buyers. Edwynn Houk Gallery has kept up its dedication to the photography, both vintage and contemporary.
