The Tavern operates à la carte with a tasting menu in the evening, and the space in the back, The Dining Room is about fix prixe and tasting menus, serving à la carte at lunch. Murals and flowers adorn the spaces.
The place is owned by Danny Meyer, Michael Anthony stars as the chef, and the Tavern supports many community projects, such as City Harvest and GrowNYC. A Michelin star and #1 on Zagat list are more than well-earned by this landmark place.
Menus (try the warm lobster salad) have separate sections for a selection of farmstead cheeses, sourced from France, like Brillat-Savarin, to Vermont, and “Wines we're excited about”. Tasting menus include specific drinks (ales, not just wines) with each course, and there's a Coffee Program plus loose-leaf teas.
