A tiny point of dramatic events is situated in 240 West 44th Street and is considered to be a Broadway's child. With 597 seats only Helen Hayes Theatre is the smallest theatre on Broadway, but still waters run deep, we should never forget about it.
In 20th exactly this theater became the inspirer of the Little Theatre Movement aiming to stop cinema replacing theatre as a source of large-scale spectacle. Named in honour of Helen Hayes MacArthur, an American actress whose career spanned almost 80 years, the theatre reconstitutes the same will and struggle for the sake of the art.
Last 2011's performance caused a great boom with the rock musical Rock of Ages which closed in early 2015 but has succeeded in spreading its popularity over the United States. The theater is going to be ready to open its doors again for the next 2017/2018 season while being on renovation during all 2016. Until then one more premiere will happen here: the Dames at Sea musical is coming to Helen Hayes Theatre.
