Jackie Robinson Park was originally constructed as a playground for the kids and adults from around the neighborhood encouraging them to spend time outdoors actively. The park is among 10 other original spaces that can boast receiving a swimming pool for even more summer activities.
The pool was opened in 1936 with the idea to bring fun and recreation to all Harlem families. Local authorities constructed a recreation center the same year. Now it features a library, a weight room, art & crafts rooms, computer and education centers as well as set of other facilities for an active and enriching lifestyle.
The outside area is also perfect for all types of sports. It has baseball diamonds in addition to volleyball and basketball courts. Kids can take the advantage on any of two playgrounds with a special section for water plays and recreation. The venue has a bandshell to hold concerts, live performances, and other entertaining events.
