If you want to see the shoe that once hit George Bush in the head or a collection of plastic vomit, Mmuseumm is happy to oblige. It also just happens to be the smallest museum in New York. A few years ago three young men rented out a disused freight elevator that opened into the street and filled it with various modern curiosities. It has soon become one of the greatest obscure New York attractions.
The expositions, both permanent and temporary, are composed primarily of the objects related to modern culture. A lot of it is what many would call “garbage”, and it ranges from funny to disgusting to slightly disturbing. If you dial a toll-free number, though, you get info on all the exhibits, which suddenly makes them much more appealing. With a bit of personal history, these pitiful rejects become intriguing quirky bits of a bigger story.
