For a crowded city like New York parks are compulsory and important. Without parks and green spaces the city would be creeping into a big smog cloud and would have less interesting and attractive activities to do during weekends. Pelham Bay Park is a little less popular than renowned names such as Central or Battery park but it is nonetheless beautiful.
When you visit it, you can still hear the Long Island sound and you will be amazed by its marshy inlets, lush forest, and rocky outcropping. The park is three times bigger than Central Park spreading on 2.766 acres and looks more like main than like the Bronx. Being so big it takes hours to explore and there are many places good for picnic and family fun. While at it don't forget to see the attractions such as Bartow-Pell Mansion Museum, the recently renovated Pelham Bay Golf Course, and the Orchard Beach.
